Hooray!! The holidays are here and there’s finally a chill in the air…..so break out those sweaters and boots!
We really enjoyed learning and talking about all of the special Community Helpers that make our everyday lives a better, safer place. The Firefighter and police officer’s visits were especially exciting as the children were able to see a firefighter’s gear close-up as well as sit in a real fire truck or on a police motorcycle.
Being “thankful” for these helpers went right along with our “what are we thankful for” shape turkey Thanksgiving activity. Our fun with our Creepy Crawly insects in our Science Center continued as we added more interesting critters and weighted and measured them.
Our centers included activities with letters H, P, and W, as well a singing our Frog Street Press songs about these letters, number 5 & 6, the colors black and brown and the oval shape. In our ABC Music & Me unit called “Let’s Play”, we pretended we were trains, teddy bear, and jack-in the –boxes through movement and by playing a variety of instruments like rhythm sticks, bells and sand blocks.
