Kelli Siegel, Head DSA Preschool Teacher
My name is Kelli Siegel and I am the Head Preschool Teacher at Desert Sun Academy. I have been a CCUSD employee for 12 years, working in Kindergarten, Developmental Preschool, and have been the ECS Head Preschool Teacher for the past 5 years. I absolutely LOVE teaching preschool and look forward every day to having fun with the children as they explore, discover, engage and, most importantly, play while they learn. It is my passion to teach our little ones the importance of being a caring, responsible, and kind individual while inspiring their lifetime love for learning. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Arizona State University and have my Early Childhood Teaching Certification through the Arizona Department of Education. I am an AZ native, living in Scottsdale with my husband Brian and a proud mom of two boys – my oldest son, McCade, who attends Barrett The Honors College at ASU and my 2022 HS Senior, Cannen, who is 4.0 student while being the starting linebacker for the Varsity football team.
Deb Miller, Teacher Assistant
My name is Deb Miller and I am the Teacher Assistant at Desert Sun Academy site with the amazing Kelli Siegel. I have been a Teacher’s Assistant for ECS since 1997. I have had the privilege to have worked with many children over the years in CCUSD. I have raised my 3 children with my husband Tom in Cave Creek and plan on eventually retiring someday in this area. I LOVE helping the children grow each day and look forward to coming to work every day. |
Snapshots of all the wonderful things we are learning in preschoolPreschool Program Emphasis
The Desert Sun Academy Preschool location is specifically designed to provide children 3-5 years old with the solid foundation they will need for later learning in kindergarten and beyond. Our Preschool program focuses on developmentally appropriate practices for learning including child-directed activities as well as teacher-led lessons. We focus on identifying specific goals in all areas of development and learning while setting realistic expectations for all children no matter what developmental level they are at. World French is introduced as a very basic level to expand children’s knowledge of the French language and culture. Students also benefit from integrative experiences as they prepare for Kindergarten by visiting DSA Specials classes - Music, Art, P.E. – as well as the school library a few times a month. Five, three, and two-day classes are offered at DSA.
